Decoction

Literally 'soups'

the process is time consuming and makes the house smell and are the most expensive form.  However, they are the most potent and most easily absorbed.

Powder

Decoction is made and concentrated, then sprayed onto starch granules, which absorb the liquid and are easily stored.  To consume, simply stir an appropriate dosage (varies based on concentration, but is usually between a teaspoon and tablespoon) into a cup of hot water and drink.  Middle ground between deoction and pill.

Pill

Similar to powders, the decoction is concentrated and sprayed onto starch, which absorbs the liquid.  Essentially, it is the same as dipping a biscuit in your cup of tea, which absorbs the tea; you're taking pills of decoction.  This form is the least potent, and absorbs more slowly, yet has no foul flavor and is least expensive; ideal for chronic conditions that require the person to take herbs for a long duration.
